OK, thanks to having iSpy, I did get it solved! I used the ONVIF config in iSpy and that gave me the missing parameter real_stream.
So now I use
rtsp://192.168.1.175:554/user=admin&pas ... eal_stream
and this works in Sighthound. Here's a screen grab of how it now looks.
