I seem to be having a problem with sighthound picture glitches. this only happens on sighthound as I have been monitoring the cam on both sighthound monitor and the ip camera monitor at the same time. The glitch only occurs on sighthound. this is causing video capturing glitches rather than people entering my region.
Please help !!!!

Regards

Hi Sammi,

You can append "?svforcetcp" to the end of your stream path to have the software connect over TCP rather than UDP (a lossy protocol). For more detail please see viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11523

Since I'm a newbie to all this, can you help me on how to force a tcp connection by appending "svforcetcp"

Absolutely. Can you let me know what camera you are connecting to and what settings you are using?

Hi Sammi,

Some users have reported problems with these cameras regardless of settings or regardless of which third party software they use. The browser is likely connecting to the MJPEG or a different stream (and potentially their software as well).

Please ensure that you have the latest firmware installed on each of your cameras, as some of these issues may have been addressed.

The settings would be protocol "rtsp" and stream path "videoMain?svforcetcp" as in the attached screenshot (with your username/password and port as they are now).

Also, please set your camera resolution to "Match source" so that the software will record at whatever the camera is sending. Right now you are unnecessarily upscaling the video to 1080p (the maximum resolution on both of your cameras is 1280 x 960).

Hope that helps,
- ryan

Hi Sammi,

If the data loss is not coming from packet loss on the network, it could be that the camera itself is having trouble encoding data at the requested rate or quality. I'm unsure exactly what settings your camera supports, but you could reduce the framerate, adjust the bit rate lower, and if your camera supports VBR (variable bit rate) rather than CBR (constant bit rate) select VBR.

Additionally, you could instead connect to the MJPEG stream. I believe the url would be as follows:

protocol: http
stream path: /cgi-bin/CGIStream.cgi?cmd=GetMJStream&usr=YOURUSERNAME&pwd=YOURPASSWORD

replacing YOURUSERNAME and YOURPASSWORD with the correct values. Additionally, the port should be set to whatever http port you use to access the camera.

Hello Ryan,
Sorry for the delay in replying but have been trying out all your suggestions and to no avail, changed frame rates adjusted bit rates etc still had the same glitch problems. Out of desperation I decided to reset the cameras back to the original settings and reset my cable Modem (Netgear CG3100D-2)and to my surprise all the glitches disappeared on both cameras, I don't know what fixed the problem but all is clear for the moment, I shall monitor for the next few days and if all is well I shall comment.
Thanks for now
Regards
Sammi F
