Dropcam Echo Axis Camera

by Diamond » Thu Sep 23, 2010 12:07 pm

Will Vitamin d work with the Dropcam Echo camera. This camera is a rebranded Axis M1031-W loaded with new firmware developed by Dropcam.com

I understand the Axis M1031-W works with Vitamin d, but will the Dropcam camera sold by dropcam.com with it's firmware work?

I recall reading somewhere they use a proprietary firmware that uses UDP and not HTTP for its streaming, but I am not sure of that or clear on the details.

Would really like to know if this camera will work before I buy it.

(The reason I want to buy this camera rather than the standard M1031-W is due to its cloud "dvr" recording capabilities and intending to use this function at certain locations and times during the year.)

Thanks.

I believe that it should work like the standard Axis M1031-W, but I can't 100% confirm this as I don't have access to their current camera. I know we've received customer emails mentioning they were trying out Vitamin D after getting a dropcam, but they didn't finish the sentence with "and it works" :-). You might want to check with the dropcam guys before purchasing.
