Where's the mailed photo stored?

by reiniertc » Sun Feb 06, 2011 3:26 pm

I'm using VitaminD in combination with an applescript.
Also, on some triggers, a mail is sent with a video capture.

I would like to be able to have my applescript to use that photo in it's proces (*), but I can't find where the (temp) picture is stored. So my question is:
Where is the most recent photo stored on my mac and does it reside on my mac after mailing, or is it removed instantly after mailing?

(*)= the applescript I'm building should add the photo to the top of a custom html page, So I can build me a log file with photo, time stamp, etc.

Hi Reiniertc,

The snapshot sent in emails is never written to disk as a stand alone image file. The relevant video frame is pulled directly from the saved clip and placed in the email buffer. Sorry, I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but thanks for the feedback and we'll take your feature request into consideration in the future.

Well, it's certainly a clear answer :-)
With the answer in mind, i'm gonna have to expand the applescript to make me a picture frame of the clip saved by the rule.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Good afternoon everyone,

Is it possible yet to get the mail photo, or even better, a high-res snapshot of it to be saved somewhere yet?

What I want to do is to take that photo and send it to the API to determine what colour the vehicle that passed by is.

I have already set the region to only check inside the area of the road but not sure how to save the snapshot as soon as the vehicle has entered the area.

Hello Exuma,

At this time, the only option to export an image is for email notifications. Sighthound does not keep a copy of the image locally after the export takes place.

Hi Devin,

Thank you for the feedback, I think that will be OK for now.

Hello @BernieCyr,

If you would like to submit a feature request, you can create a post in the "Feature Request" forum. We currently have other features we are working at so I am unable to give you an estimated time frame of when or if you may see this feature implemented.

Regards,

Kenneth

To find your latest photo follow the instructions:
Open the Finder in Mac OS and go to your home directory.
Go to the “Pictures” folder.
Locate the file named “Photos Library.photoslibrary”
Right-click (or Control + Click) on “Photos Library.photoslibrary” and choose “Show Package Contents”
Open the folder named “Masters” to find the image files contained within Photos app
And there by the date, find your image.
