Temporarily pause notifications but keep recording

by del0 » Thu May 24, 2018 12:28 pm

We have seven InstarHD cameras and get a lot of alarms when we move on our own property.

So in order to disable the notifications (the notification for the rules are mobile only) we would have to disable the cameras (or certain cameras) but this would also disable the recording (front side of the house etc.).

Our workaround currently is that we have each rule duplicated, one version with notifications, one version without.
Two IFTTT webhook widgets (enable/disable alarm) make http requests which make rmi calls for enabling/disabling the rules with notification.

It should be easy to add an option (in the 2 apps, in the remote viewer and a new python rmi call) to enable/disable all kinds of notifications (mobile, ifttt, mail).

The idea is almost the same but more "phone specific":

This request, turning off notifications when at home, is by far the most requested feature on this forum. There are multiple topics suggesting different ways to do it: IFTTT, SmartThings, APIs, etc. There must be a dozen threads with this request going back to 2015. It's also the only thing preventing me from switching from Blue Iris. Would love to see this.

Hello @del0 and @cryptyk,

Thank you for requesting this feature. A current workaround would be to have the duplicate rules (one with the notifications and one without), however for the one with the notifications also set this rule to run at a specific time slot so that you only receive alerts during the specified time. Make the time for this rule to send you alerts whenever you are not home. So, for example, if you not home from 8-5, you can set the rule with the notifications to run during this time. After five this rule will be disabled, and you'll no longer receive alerts.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Kenneth
